S(cienti-tecture)-Files: Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics

Via skylights, light streams profusely into the  interconnecting hallways, where a broth of scientists engage in intellectual intercourse throughout the day. Blackboards adorn the office walls and most significantly the cafeteria, where scientists bounce ideas off each other and resolve doubts and questions in an informal gathering. Pane-less transparent walls overlook Silver Lake and Waterloo Park. Offices jut out in cubes from the wall facing a pond, microscopic worlds within a monolith. Housing some of the world’s most prolific and iconoclastic thinkers of the theoretical physical sciences, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics boasts of an almost chic architecture, perhaps one of the 1st amongst its kind.
